Modeling and simulation of the plant growth based on reciprocity

Abstract: In order to simulate the plants' growth under reciprocity, this paper presents a novel plants' growth model based on reciprocity. In this approach, the neighborhood interference model is used to obtain mutual coefficient and the FON (Field-of-Neighborhood) model is applied to determine the ZOI (zone-of-influence) of plant. The plants' growth model based on reciprocity contains trees' space location, age, self-growth parameters, and environment conditions, etc. So it can reflect the trees growth state in great reality under variable environments. In order to verify the validity of this model, a plant growth simulation system is implemented. In this system, two kinds of typical reciprocal plants---Ash and Larch are used to simulate the different plant growth state under different resource conditions, spatial locations, and time periods. The application shows that the simulation result can remain more scientific and the plants' growth model based on reciprocity can satisfy the need of virtual forest.
